Meet the rest of my class
My name is Josephine Orgah. I am discerning a call to serve Christ and His Church as a sister with the All Saints Sisters of the Poor Monastery. This is my story.
I grew up in Nigeria in a large Catholic family. I attended Catholic schools my entire childhood, and was involved in the parish choir, youth ministry, and Bible study. At the age of 17, I began discerning a call to religious life. I was accepted into the Sisters of the Daughters of Mercy, went through formation, and took my final vows. Then my older brother, the first Catholic Bishop of my home diocese, passed away. The intense sorrow of this event deeply impacted my family, and my mother suffered a stroke. I was dispensed from religious life to return home and care for her and my family.
Despite this transition, I never lost my desire for religious life. After a number of years, including moving, I eventually discovered the All Saints Sisters of the Poor. From our very first encounter, I experienced a deep sense of clarity and peace with this community. The All Saints Sisters are a contemplative order who also conduct retreats. The spirituality of this order draws me, and on my visit with them, I experienced a profound sense of belonging. I want to bring people closer to Christ through retreats, sharing about vocations, and most of all, through contemplative prayer. Throughout my journey, despite interruptions and challenges, my desire for consecrated life has remained constant, and God has continued to guide me. I remain committed to responding fully to His call.
